Deepwater Horizon Spill Trial Pushed Back To 2013

Law360, New York (May 03, 2012, 7:02 PM ET) -- The judge handling multidistrict litigation over the Deepwater Horizon oil spill ruled Thursday that trial in Louisiana on the claims not covered by a recent $7.8 billion partial settlement would begin Jan. 14, 2013, nearly a year after its original start date.

The liability phase of a three-part trial in the sprawling MDL was supposed to begin in early March, but U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier delayed the proceedings indefinitely when BP PLC and the plaintiffs’ steering committee proposed to settle most individual and business claims....
