Day Of Reckoning Arrives For Scruggs

Law360, New York (June 25, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Famed plaintiffs lawyer Richard “Dickie” Scruggs will be spending the next five years behind bars, with a judge opting to slap him with the recommended maximum sentence for conspiring to bribe a Mississippi state judge.

On Friday, U.S. District Judge Neal Biggers Jr. sentenced Scruggs to a five years in prison and hit him with a $250,000 fine, calling the renowned litigator’s conduct “reprehensible.”
