Chrysler To Fight $13M Punitive Damages Award

Law360, New York (July 29, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- DaimlerChrysler Corp. is planning to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court after a state supreme court affirmed that the company owes $13 million in a wrongful death suit.

The company will file its petition within 90 days, seeking to overturn the Tennessee Supreme Court's Thursday ruling that affirmed a lower court's punitive damages award to the parents of an 8-month-old boy who died in a 2001 crash, said Theodore Boutrous of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP which represents the company.
