Canon Asks ITC To Probe Ninestar Over Toner Patents

Law360, New York (June 29, 2010, 4:02 PM ET) -- Canon Inc. is urging the U.S. International Trade Commission to investigate whether Ninestar Image International Ltd. and a slew of retailers have infringed two patents covering toner cartridges.

Tokyo-based Canon and its two U.S. units lodged a complaint with the ITC on Monday alleging that 20 respondents have unlawfully imported infringing toner cartridges and related devices into the U.S. in violation of Section 337 of the Tariff Act.

The complaint seeks a permanent exclusion and cease-and-desist orders.
