Law360, New York (November 14, 2011, 10:16 PM ET) -- Berkshire Hathaway Inc. has invested $10.7 billion in IBM Corp. in 2011, marking CEO Warren Buffett's first major venture into technology investing, the billionaire investor revealed Monday.
Berkshire's latest filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission says the company owned 57.8 million shares of IBM as of Sept. 30. But Buffett said in an interview with CNBC on Monday that the company owned 64 million shares in total — about 5.4 percent of IBM.
