Failure Of Proof: US V. O'Shea

Law360, New York (February 13, 2012, 1:15 PM ET) -- On Jan. 16, the judge overseeing the trial of John O’Shea, a former general manager and vice president of a unit of ABB Ltd., granted a judgment of acquittal on all substantive Foreign Corrupt Practices Act counts against O’Shea. In 2010, O’Shea’s former employer, ABB, pled guilty and paid $58.3 million to settle FCPA allegations that it paid $1.9 million in kickbacks to Mexican officials.
