Apple Admits To IPhone 4 Defect Amid Class Actions

Law360, New York (July 02, 2010, 12:51 PM ET) -- Apple Inc. has admitted it was “stunned” to find problems in the signal meter on its iPhone 4, an issue that has spawned several class actions slamming the barely one-week-old smartphone.

Early adopters of the device have griped about — and sued over — an alleged drop in signal strength that occurs when the popular phone is gripped normally.

The cell phones do show a “far bigger drop than normal” in signal strength when tightly held in a certain way, Apple admitted in a letter Friday....
