Big Tobacco Faces $2.2M Verdict In Fla.

Law360, New York (August 06, 2010, 11:51 AM ET) -- Yet another Florida jury has sided against Big Tobacco in one of the so-called Engle progeny cases, handing the widow of a smoker who died of lung cancer $2.2 million in compensatory damages.

Jurors on Thursday in the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit for Palm Beach County, Fla., found that R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Philip Morris USA Inc. were partly responsible for the death of 55-year-old Charles Piendle in 1996.
