Feds Charge 114 In Massive Medicare Fraud Crackdown

Law360, New York (February 17, 2011, 6:37 PM ET) -- Federal prosecutors on Thursday charged 114 people in nine cities — including doctors, nurses, and owners and executives of health care companies — in what they said was their largest-ever federal health care fraud takedown.

More than 700 law enforcement agents swept through Miami, Detroit, New York, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Tampa, Fla., and Baton Rouge, La., executing 16 search warrants for false billings and kickbacks that allegedly cost the Medicare system at least $225 million altogether, according to Attorney General Eric Holder.
