Merck To Pay Nearly $1B To Settle Vioxx Marketing Claims

Law360, New York (November 22, 2011, 5:23 PM ET) -- Drug giant Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp. has agreed to pay $950 million to settle criminal charges and civil claims for illegally marketing the painkiller Vioxx for off-label uses and allegedly misleading customers about the safety of the drug, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday.
