Guitar Cos. Beat Sherman Act Claims In Price-Fixing Suit

Law360, New York (August 21, 2012, 8:09 PM ET) -- A California federal judge on Monday dismissed federal antitrust claims leveled at guitar companies, ruling that the putative class action does not sufficiently allege a conspiracy to raise retail prices for guitars and amplifiers.

U.S. District Judge Larry Alan Burns said the plaintiffs had merely alleged that the guitar companies — including Fender Musical Instruments Corp., Guitar Center Inc. and others — had attended the same trade meetings and adopted similar policies on minimum advertised prices.
