Target Inks $7.4M Deal Over Calif. Waste Disposal Claims
Law360 (December 6, 2018, 8:06 PM EST) -- Target Corp. on Wednesday agreed to shell out $7.4 million to resolve claims that the retail giant violated California state law by improperly dumping hazardous waste, some of which allegedly included customers' confidential medical information, piling on to an earlier $22.5 million deal over similar claims in 2011.
The fresh deal — approved by Judge Iona Petrou of the California Superior Court — addresses accusations by the California Attorney General of new environmental violations found during inspections of Target’s trash compactors in the years since the Minnesota-based chain paid the larger sum to end an earlier suit over similar claims....
