United Award In Reinsurance Spat Upped To $32M

Law360, New York (July 27, 2009, 4:29 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has increased the award for United National Insurance Co. to $32.17 million in a dispute with Aon Ltd. over indemnification for a botched reinsurance agreement, tacking almost $8.3 million in prejudgment interest onto a jury award.

Judge Louis Pollak of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Friday awarded the prejudgment interest, calculated at the statutory rate of 6 percent, to the original jury award of $23.9 million in damages for United National, Diamond State Insurance Co. and United...
