FERC Levies Fines Against Energy Cos.

Law360, New York (January 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Thursday imposed $22.5 million in fines against five energy companies, wielding for the first time extended powers granted in the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

PacifiCorp, SCANA Corp., Entergy Corp., Northwest Energy Corp. and NRG Energy Inc. were all hit with penalties for violating tariffs, rules and standards of conduct or FERC’s business practice standards, FERC announced.
