Judge Grants Preliminary OK To $18.5M Sea Star Deal

Law360, New York (August 25, 2010, 7:31 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has granted preliminary approval of an $18.5 million settlement Sea Star Line LLC has reached in multidistrict litigation accusing several shipping companies of conspiring to eliminate competition in the market for freight services between the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

In an order filed Wednesday, Judge Daniel R. Dominguez of the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico gave his preliminary approval of the settlement, certified the settlement class and gave authorization for the class notice to be issued.
