B.C. appoints two judges to provincial court

Law360 Canada (November 4, 2025, 1:53 PM EST) -- The British Columbia government has appointed Diba Majzub and Megan Olson to the provincial court, effective Nov. 24.

According to the announcement, Majzub will serve in Port Coquitlam. She has practised law for more than two decades, primarily in criminal law. After joining the federal Department of Justice in 2001, she prosecuted federal drug offences in Vancouver and later worked with the United Nations mission in Kosovo from 2004 to 2006. For the past 15 years, she has specialized in extradition and mutual legal assistance matters and was most recently part of the department’s Supreme Court of Canada practice group. She holds a master of laws from Columbia University, where she specialized in international criminal law.

Olson will be assigned to Smithers. Called to the B.C. bar in 2008 after articling with the attorney general, she practised criminal defence and worked on Indigenous law matters before becoming an accredited family mediator in 2017. Since 2018, she has served as a managing lawyer at the Parents Legal Centre in Smithers. Olson has long-standing ties to the community and experience collaborating with First Nations in the region, including a connection to the Gitxsan First Nation.
