Alliant Drops $315M On Rifle, Shotgun Giant

Law360, New York (May 13, 2013, 5:09 PM EDT) -- Aerospace and defense contractor Alliant Techsystems Inc. said Monday that it will pay $315 million for private equity-owned Caliber Co., the parent company of one of the world's largest manufacturers of hunting rifles and shotguns.

The Virginia-based contractor, known as ATK, is acquiring the parent company of Savage Sports Corp., a gun manufacturing giant based in Massachusetts, according to a statement.
