Facebook Invalidity Win Doomed By PTAB, Fed. Circ. Told

Law360, New York (July 27, 2015, 8:34 PM EDT) -- Rembrandt Social Media LP urged the Federal Circuit on Friday to reverse a 2014 jury verdict that an online diary patent it asserted against Facebook Inc. is invalid, saying the finding is trumped by a June Patent Trial and Appeal Board ruling that the patent is not invalid.

Rembrandt said that under the language of the America Invents Act, the PTAB's June 22 final written decision in an inter partes review bars Facebook from arguing on appeal that the jury's June 2014 verdict should be upheld....
