Assessing The EU's Revised Shareholder Rights Directive

In April 2017 the European Council of Ministers formally approved the text of the directive, which was the last step that had to be taken. The directive aims to tackle corporate governance shortcomings related to listed companies and their boards, shareholders (institutional investors and asset managers), intermediaries and proxy advisors. One of the objectives is that shareholders take a longer term horizon in their investment process, but the directive also aims to stimulate engagement between shareholders and listed companies....
