GCs Report Favoring Midsize Firms For Outside Work

Law360, New York (November 28, 2016, 7:29 PM EST) -- Corporate legal departments' spending on outside counsel has inched down over the past decade, with general counsel increasingly looking to midsize firms for their legal needs, according to a report released Monday.

The average corporation allocated 55 percent of its legal budget to outside counsel in 2016, according to CEB Inc.’s 2016 State of the Legal Function report. That’s down from 60 percent a decade ago.
