Fee Award In Godiva Receipt Deal Too Sweet For Objectors

Law360, Miami (January 12, 2018, 8:29 PM EST) -- Objectors to a $6.3 million class settlement with Godiva Chocolatier over allegations the company printed too much information on customers' credit card receipts urged the Eleventh Circuit on Friday to shoot down the deal over what they argue is an excessive attorneys' fee award.

Objectors James Price and Eric Isaacson told an Eleventh Circuit panel in Miami that the $2.1 million attorneys' fee award was unreasonable and well above the 25 percent benchmark for class counsel fee awards in the circuit.
