Justices Won't Review School's Sex Abuse Insurance Case
Law360 (January 13, 2020, 5:39 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to review a New Jersey school district's suit against Zurich American Insurance Co. seeking coverage for claims the district shielded a teacher's purported sexual misconduct there and enabled him to later allegedly abuse a student at another school.
The justices rejected the petition for review by the Montville Board of Education, which saw its lawsuit seeking insurance coverage shot down by both a New Jersey federal judge and the Third Circuit. Both courts determined that the claims in the underlying suit fell within the coverage exclusions of the board’s policy with Zurich.
