Faruqi Jurors Start Deliberations In Sex Assault Case

Law360, New York (February 3, 2015, 3:56 PM EST) -- A New York federal jury began deliberations Tuesday in a closely watched sexual assault trial against Faruqi & Faruqi LLP and partner Juan Monteverde, after a defense attorney lambasted the $2 million suit as a "sucker punch" motivated by greed.

The eight-member jury started its deliberations around 3:45 p.m. after hearing closing arguments and receiving legal instructions from U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein. Former Faruqi associate Alexandra Marchuk claims in the suit that she was sexually harassed by Monteverde on multiple occasions, including after the firm's December 2011 holiday party.
