Lipscomb basketball player seeks reconsideration of denied injunction against NCAA

( August 28, 2025, 19:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Lipscomb University basketball player Derrin Boyd filed an emergency motion for reconsideration after a US federal judge denied his request for a preliminary injunction against the National Collegiate Athletic Association's eligibility rules, which "unreasonably bar him from participating in his final season of college basketball." The order denying the injunction applied a standard applicable to ruling on the merits rather than for motions seeking preliminary relief, and "improperly distinguished between the NCAA's Five-Year Rule and Four Seasons Rule, despite the fact that both are eligibility caps operating in the same market" and are equally subject to the court's reasoning, the motion said.See attached file....
