More French users are willing to pay for online services, DPA says

( October 23, 2025, 09:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A significant number of French internet users are willing to pay a subscription for online services such as news media and generative AI instead of having their personal data processed for the purpose of advertising, according to a survey commissioned by the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés. The CNIL said its survey shows that a paid subscription is "democratizing," even though it's not the preferred option, and that users' willingness to pay strongly depends on the type of online service.The results of the survey are available here....
