UK AI copyright consultation results give govt clear course of action, creatives say

Some tech companies backed the government’s initial intent to introduce an opt-out system for models using works for training. The interim report on the consultation, published on Monday, contains no commitment to announce any policy with the final report.The UK creative industry’s voice has come across loud and clear in the first breakdown of results to the government’s consultation of AI and copyright. Creatives have made it clear they want more protections for their works. Only a tiny fraction supported the government’s preference to allow works to be used for model training, unless the rights holder actively opted out via a future mechanism....
