Gina Cass-Gottlieb to be reappointed as head of Australia's competition regulator

In a brief social-media post on Wednesday, Chalmers said Cass-Gottlieb is an “outstanding leader of our competition and consumer watchdog.” He added that the states and territories are required to agree for the appointment process to be completed. Cass-Gottlieb commenced her first term in March 2022 after replacing former chair Rod Sims. In response to MLex’s queries on Wednesday, the antitrust agency’s acting Chief Executive Officer Madeline Richardson said that the regulator welcomes the Treasurer’s announcement.
