Music publishers seek to add new copyright claims against Anthropic related to torrenting

( August 11, 2025, 23:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Concord Music and other music publishers want to add new allegations, related to downloading song lyrics from shadow libraries, to their copyright case against Anthropic, they said in a motion to file a second amended complaint. Music publishers said they learned through another copyright lawsuit filed by book authors that Anthropic used torrenting to illegally download and upload content from shadow libraries. "The revelation that Anthropic used BitTorrent to illegally download — and upload — Publishers’ lyrics has major implications for this case," music publishers said. See attached document....
