Suno hit with amended 'stream ripping' complaint by music companies over AI-generated music

( September 20, 2025, 00:02 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: AI music company Suno was hit by additional allegations by UMG Recordings, Sony Music Entertainment and other record companies that the generative AI music startup acquired the music it trained its algorithms on through piracy. "Suno acquired many (if not all) of the copyrighted sound recordings in its training data by illicitly downloading them from YouTube using a notorious method of music piracy known as 'stream ripping,'" the music companies said in an amended complaint filed in federal court in Massachusetts.See attached document....
