South Korea's 5-year blueprint details extensive plans to foster AI capabilities

( August 13, 2025, 05:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The de facto transition team for South Korea’s new president today unveiled 123 national policy goals to pursue over the next five years, including plans to spur artificial intelligence, biotechnology and other future industries, as well as a sustainable energy transition. The section on “Innovation Economy” includes plans to establish a complete AI ecosystem by building AI highways, securing next-generation AI chip and AI foundation technologies, and acquiring top-tier AI talent. Comprising a total of five sections, the policy blueprint also sets goals to firmly establish a personal information-protection system amid increasing AI use, while aggressively opening public data for AI development.
