Google must de-list news articles from search results in some circumstances, Canada's Privacy Commissioner finds

( August 27, 2025, 14:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Individuals have the right to have certain information about them de-listed so that it is not displayed in search engine results when their name is searched online where there is a risk of serious harm, Privacy Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne found. The investigation, resulting from a complaint against Google over a news articles on a criminal charge that was dropped against an individual, found that the company violated Canada’s federal private-sector privacy law.
