Dick's, Foot Locker combination could decrease competition, raise prices, US senator warns

( August 6, 2025, 16:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Senator Elizabeth Warren sent a letter yesterday warning the US Federal Trade Commission and US Justice Department about Dick's Sporting Goods' bid to acquire Foot Locker, claiming it threatens workers and could raise prices. “The size of the deal and each company’s significant presence in the athletic footwear market suggests this deal merits significant scrutiny from antitrust agencies... If competitors Dick’s and Foot Locker combined, the resulting elimination of competition could lead to higher prices for consumers and other negative effects...
