Casinos must appoint AML-compliance auditors, Australian watchdog says

In a statement, the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre said it took the action against The Ville Resort-Casino in Townsville and Mindil Beach Casino Resort in Darwin after identifying “potential gaps and deficiencies in AML/CTF controls, risks and oversight.” Austrac CEO Brendan Thomas warned that without adequate controls and monitoring, the casinos in Australia’s far-north could be used for money laundering.
