UK's latest IP-backed loan highlights scope of securable intangible assets

By Douglas Clarke-Williams ( August 28, 2025, 15:00 GMT | Insight) -- UK bank NatWest has announced a “substantial IP-backed loan” to property technology company Nimbus, with the bank securing the funds against a range of intangible assets including contracts and trade secrets. The loan is the latest by the bank as it pursues tech-focused customers without the traditional physical assets against which financing is usually secured.  On Wednesday UK bank NatWest announced its most recent IP-backed loan, provided to property technology company Nimbus - the first such financing deal to be referred to the bank by a broker. The financing product, offered by the bank since 2024, secures loans to companies against their intangible assets....
