Investment firms receive standalone UK framework for regulatory capital

( October 15, 2025, 16:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Investment firms now have a standalone framework for regulatory capital, or "own funds," tailored specifically for them by the UK's financial markets watchdog. The policy, released on Wednesday, follows a consultation with the industry; the new regime will enter force on April 1 next year. The Financial Conduct Authority said that the new rules do not change the overall levels of capital that firms must hold to adequately absorb losses, but that they reduce unnecessary complexity. "This work is part of the FCA’s wider strategy to support growth and underpin the continued competitiveness of the UK’s world-leading financial services," the regulator said in a statement.
