Japan's Imabari Shipbuilding to increase stake in rival Japan Marine United

( June 26, 2025, 09:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan’s largest shipbuilder, Imabari Shipbuilding, announced that it has agreed to increase its stake in Japan Marine United, or JMU, the nation’s second-largest shipbuilder, by acquiring a portion of the stakes currently held by heavy industry manufacturers JFE Holdings and IHI. As a result, Imabari’s share in JMU will rise from 30 percent to 60 percent, while the stakes of JFE and IHI will be reduced from 35 percent each to 20 percent each, according to a joint statement by the three companies.
