Trans Wonderland's move on Papua New Guinea logistics companies sparks in-depth review

( August 19, 2025, 08:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Trans Wonderland’s proposed acquisition of port-facility owners Avenell Engineering System and Alfa Limited is facing an in-depth review by Papua New Guinea’s mergers regulator. In a statement, the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission, or ICCC, said that Trans Wonderland, one of the country’s largest landowner companies, provides logistics services for cargo through its fleet of heavy vehicles; the target companies are foreign-owned family businesses incorporated in Papua New Guinea. Trans Wonderland had applied for clearance in June, but the ICCC concluded that the deal would require a thorough competition assessment under the authorization process.
