Japan studies stronger safeguards for subsea cables amid rising East Asia risks

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on Tuesday convened an expert panel to consider measures to improve maintenance and patrols of subsea cables, which transmit intercontinental data, and to diversify the locations of cable landing stations. Japan serves as a key hub for international subsea cables, connecting North America and Asia.
