TikTok divestiture addresses US security concerns, but privacy questions unanswered

But the deal touted by President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance doesn’t necessarily move the needle on the many concerns about TikTok’s data protection and addictive algorithm practices, particularly those that affect children and teenagers. As the Trump administration unveiled a $14 billion plan Thursday to put TikTok under the control of US investors including Oracle’s Larry Ellison, Rupert Murdoch and Michael Dell, the goal of eliminating China’s propaganda control over the platform’s algorithm was front and center....
