Senate Panel Approves NRC Nominees Macfarlane, Svinicki

Law360, New York (June 21, 2012, 9:15 PM EDT) -- A Senate panel on Thursday approved President Barack Obama’s nominee to replace the outgoing chair of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, as well as the renomination of a current commissioner, setting them up for confirmation by the full Senate next week.

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee advanced Allison Macfarlane, Obama’s pick to succeed embattled NRC Chair Gregory Jaczko, and Kristine Svinicki, a member of the five-person commission whose term expires June 30.
