Walgreens Inks $438M USA Drug Deal In 2nd Summer Buy

Law360, New York (July 5, 2012, 1:12 PM EDT) -- Illinois-based drug retailer Walgreen Co. made its second move in a month to expand its growing footprint, picking up a drugstore chain with shops spread largely through the mid-Southern U.S. in a deal valued at $438 million, Walgreen said Thursday.

Under the deal, Walgreen's empire will take over 144 stores operating under USA Drug, Super D Drug, Drug Warehouse and other brands now owned by Stephen L. LaFrance Holdings Inc. The terms also cover USA Drug's Pine Bluff, Ark., headquarters and distribution center, plus a wholesale...
