EU Probes Antitrust Claims Over Google Search, Ads

Law360, New York (November 30, 2010, 2:08 PM EST) -- European antitrust regulators on Tuesday said they were investigating whether Google Inc. unfairly promoted its own services over its competitors’ services in paid and unpaid search results and prevented some advertising partners from running competing ads.

The European Commission said it opened formal proceedings against Google after receiving complaints from three rival search engines alleging the company violated European Union antitrust rules by treating their services unfavorably in search results.
