Fox Presses Judge To Block Dish Ad-Skipping Service

Law360, Los Angeles (September 21, 2012, 10:13 PM EDT) -- An attorney for Fox Broadcasting Co. on Friday urged a California judge to block Dish Network Corp.’s ad-skipping digital video recording service, saying it infringes the network’s copyright, violates licensing contracts and threatens to spread to rivals, destroying the value of Fox’s prime-time advertising.

“This is not some technological innovation; this is theft of programming, plain and simple,” Fox’s attorney Richard L. Stone of Jenner & Block LLP told U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee, asking for a preliminary injunction blocking Dish’s PrimeTime Anytime and AutoHop services....
