Humana To Scrap Remaining ACA Policies In 2018

Law360, New York (February 14, 2017, 7:54 PM EST) -- Humana Inc. on Tuesday said it will halt participation in Affordable Care Act marketplaces next year, citing a mix of customers that remains too unhealthy and unprofitable.

The insurer’s exit from ACA marketplaces in 11 states will affect 150,000 consumers. That’s a tiny percentage of private ACA enrollment, which exceeds 12 million, but Humana’s departure could nonetheless be significant in smaller states with marketplaces that already lack competition.
