Senate Confirms Coats As Trump's Intel Chief

Law360, Washington (March 15, 2017, 2:23 PM EDT) -- The Senate approved President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the intelligence community Wednesday, as former Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., sailed through a pair of votes.

A large majority of Senators voted to confirm their former colleague for the Director of National Intelligence post Wednesday in both a procedural cloture vote and final approval vote. Coats, a key intelligence official, would join newly minted CIA Director Mike Pompeo, Defense Secretary James Mattis and Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly as part of Trump’s national security team.
