EU Needs Common 'Fit And Proper' Banker Law: ECB Official

Law360, London (March 17, 2017, 6:37 PM GMT) -- Europe’s banking landscape needs laws setting down uniform qualifications for senior bankers to ensure good governance and risk mitigation, a senior European Central Bank official said Friday.

Ignazio Angeloni, member of the supervisory board of the ECB, said at a risk management conference in Rome that there needs to be a common code across Europe for what makes a senior banker “fit and proper” for the tasks he or she has responsibility for within an institution.
