Order on Motion for Extension of Time
Judge Myong J. Joun: ELECTRONIC ORDER entered. On 4/28/23, Plaintiff-Relator brought a qui tam action under the False Claims Act, 31 U.S.C. § 3720. Doc. No. 1 . Following numerous extensions of time, on 1/5/26, the United States filed a Notice of Election to Decline Intervention. On 5/28/26, Attorney Gregg Shapiro, the only counsel to have appeared on behalf of Relator, filed a motion to withdraw as attorney. Doc. No. 33 . To date, no other attorney has entered an appearance on Relators behalf. On 6/9/26, Relator filed, pro se, a Motion to Extend Deadline for Service to October 16, 2026. Doc. No. 36 . The motion is ALLOWED to the extent that the Court will grant an extension of time for new counsel to enter an appearance on behalf of Relator by 9/18/26. The Court reserves ruling on Attorney Shapiros motion to withdraw pending the appearance of substitute counsel. If no such appearance is docketed by that date, the United States shall file written consent to dismissal of the action by 9/25/26. (SP)
