FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried's past proclamations of ignorance won't offer much of a defense against an avalanche of fraud and conspiracy charges announced Tuesday, according to outside attorneys who say he might be wise to consider negotiating a plea.

Prosecutors unveiled an indictment Tuesday charging disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried with a multiyear scheme to siphon billions of dollars out of the now-collapsed crypto exchange, in what the Manhattan U.S. Attorney called "one of the biggest financial frauds in American history."
