A Massachusetts federal judge on Thursday denied the U.S.' bid to overturn a jury verdict allowing Fresenius Medical Care Holdings Inc. to deduct from its taxes $95 million of a total $385 million it paid to settle civil allegations that it defrauded government health care programs.

A Massachusetts federal jury on Wednesday said that Fresenius Medical Care Holdings Inc. can deduct from its taxes a $95 million portion of a total $486 million the company paid in 2000 to settle criminal and civil allegations that it defrauded government health care programs.
