A licensed doctor who worked for a Detroit-area medical practice pled guilty Tuesday for his role in an $11.5 million Medicare fraud scheme in which he personally caused the submission of $2.4 million worth of false claims, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

The owner of a medical billing company has agreed to plead guilty in Michigan federal court to conspiring to commit health care fraud after she billed Medicare $2 million for medical services provided by nonphysicians.
